So, we always try to plan great parties with lots of fun activities for everyone. This time, since it was Sophie's First Birthday, I thought we'd skip the games, mother nature had a different idea. 10 minutes before everyone was set to arrive the rain started, Stephen went outside and saw this! It got higher before we could lower it. We had a foot and a half of water up our garage door, flooded garage and basement. All the water from 1000 E got backed up into our cul de sac, and straight into our driveway since it has a down slope. We were so lucky, because everyone got here, as well as our great neighbors, and the party games began:)
First Game: passing the buckets, full to the cul de sac, empty towards the garage.
Game 2: Hooking up the sump pump
Game 3: Ripping up the carpet in the hall and trying to move all the stuff out of the water
Game 4: Trying to vacuum water out of the basement
Thank you everyone for all your help! You were all amazing!
2 hours later we finally got inside and decided to let the kiddos eat some dinner.
Yummy pulled chicken bbq sandwiches with coleslaw and fruit salad of peaches, strawberries and grapes from the garden
Sophie's Ice Cream Cake, there were little ice cream cones on it before, but the kids had them by the time we got a picture.
