The Great Flood and Sophie's First Birthday
So, we always try to plan great parties with lots of fun activities for everyone. This time, since it was Sophie's First Birthday, I thought we'd skip the games, mother nature had a different idea. 10 minutes before everyone was set to arrive the rain started, Stephen went outside and saw this! It got higher before we could lower it. We had a foot and a half of water up our garage door, flooded garage and basement. All the water from 1000 E got backed up into our cul de sac, and straight into our driveway since it has a down slope. We were so lucky, because everyone got here, as well as our great neighbors, and the party games began:)
First Game: passing the buckets, full to the cul de sac, empty towards the garage.
Game 2: Hooking up the sump pump
Game 3: Ripping up the carpet in the hall and trying to move all the stuff out of the water
Game 4: Trying to vacuum water out of the basement
Thank you everyone for all your help! You were all amazing!
2 hours later we finally got inside and decided to let the kiddos eat some dinner.
Yummy pulled chicken bbq sandwiches with coleslaw and fruit salad of peaches, strawberries and grapes from the garden
Sophie's Ice Cream Cake, there were little ice cream cones on it before, but the kids had them by the time we got a picture.
The birthday duo
What a cutie pie!
Surprise cake for Stephen's 38th Birthday!
Present Time! Oh, and as per tradition, we had Sophie choose between a champagne flute, book, and coin - she chose a champagne flute - party girl in the making:)!
She loved her gifts!

Alexis's Wedding Flowers
Today's creations were so fun! I loved Lex's choice of lavender, deep purple, and crimson red. I decided to have each bridesmaid have a solid bouquet - and the Lex's bridal bouquet wrapped everything together. The lavender roses were amazingly fresh and beautiful, loved the deep purple of the stock and the crimson dahlias as well!
The mom's and grandmother's wore a wrist corsage of lavender roses and silver brunia berries while the gentlemen had a boutonniere of lavender, billy balls and brunia berries. This was so fun, and much more masculine then a big flowery bout.
My cute little helper. She helped prep the flowers, patiently watched as I assembled them and helped hold the bouquets so I could tie on the ribbons - love her!
Then these cute little flowers I made for our table from the garden. That dinner plate dahlia is atleast 6 inches in diameter!

Annabelle's First Day of Preschool!
Annabelle was so excited! She has both her backpacks here, woke up at 6:45 and kept asking if she can go to school yet. Jack was such a sweetie, he kept telling her all the best toys she can play with there, but you don't only play with toys, you get to learn, too, he says:)
She went right in, found her name and her seat next to Olivia and was ready to get started. I can't believe my little Tinkie is all ready going to school! And so happy to do it as well!
